Property Closing Complete
God is so AWESOME! It’s OFFICIAL; we are grateful owners of 49.6 acres of a permanent piece of property for the future home of SouthPoint Church! January 5th of 2011 was a historical moment in the life of SouthPoint as we successfully closed on the property along St. Andrews Church Rd. (Rt. 4) across from Fairground Rd.
The Real Me:
The Pastoral Counseling Center of SoMD is sponsoring "The Real Me", a therapeutic group for teenagers to explore the questions of life, on Thursdays from 5-6pm. For more information call Veronica at 301-863-9333. Journeymen:
The Journeymen, currently men from the local Church community, are meeting to develop more meaningful and transparent relationships, to build a better biblical understanding of manhood, and to address current issues facing men today. This is to provide men an opportunity to experience fellowship, develop relationships, and seek a better understanding of what manhood means. The Journeymen sessions involve 45 min. of watching a DVD from the Men's Fraternity series (visit http://www.mensfraternity.com for info.) and 30-45 min. of small group. We currently have two opportunities for participation -- one on Sun. evenings and the other on Fri. mornings. Both series are held at Patuxent Presbyterian Church. Come join us! Email Mike Overs at michael.overs@md.metrocast.net or call his cell 240-925-9417 for more details. Cafe Volunteers:
The cafe is in need of people that are willing to set up/clean up, make coffee, and serve donuts. If you are interested in volunteering just once a month in this casual environment that brings a smile to many people each Sunday morning, please contact Janet at 240-925-8787 or cafe@southpoint4u.com . Video Editing:
Do you have video editing experience? If so, SouthPoint can use you. We are looking for people who have video editing experience, and would like to build a team to help with SouthPoint's videos. If you have experience shooting videos and/or editing videos, please email us at church@southpoint4u.com . Stephen Ministers

Christianity Explored
To help you in the next steps of your journey, we offer a program called "Christianity Explored: Explore the Essentials of Following Jesus!" In this seven week DVD-based program, we explore the essential truths of who Jesus is, why he came, and what it means to follow him. The course is great for people exploring or new in their faith, as well as those who may have been around church for a while, but would like a refresher on the essentials of what it means to follow Jesus. You can watch a short trailer for the course at the following link, www.thegoodbook.co.uk/newce. New sessions start throughout the year, meeting at SouthPoint Church during the second service. If you are interested please contact Chris Barrett at barrettchrisbarrett@gmail.com.. Online Giving
SouthPoint is now able to accept online credit card payments for donations (tithes and offerings) by accessing our web page at www.southpoint4u.com/facts.asp - the feature is located at the bottom of the screen.
Celebrate Recovery
Hurts increase during hard economic times. When the economy is struggling, people in our churches and community feel hopeless and defeated. History has proven that during times like these, the number of people turning to addictions, obsessions and compulsions greatly increases. We know the only true and lasting answer for pain and the solution for freedom is to turn to Jesus Christ. Join SouthPoint Church as we help those who are struggling with anger, codependence, over-spending, sexual issues, gambling, food, substance abuse and past or present trauma. Celebrate Recovery is a life changing 12-step Christ-centered ministry. Do you have experience in psychology, counseling, recover, 12-step fellowship, social work, group therapy or healing ministries? The SouthPoint Church Celebrate Recovery group has an opportunity for you to make a difference in the lives of others. Leaders are needed who can help individuals with any kind of hurt, obsessive hang-up or damaging habit. For more information, please contact Drew at community@southpoint4u.com, or contact Shertina at recovery@southpoint4u.com
